The Young Theater Circuit Project 2025 is now accepting applications to award an amateur screenwriter with the production of an original play
The winner will also receive a paid internship, financial assistance, and support with food and transportation
The Moral da História Cultural Center (CCMH) and LV4Rio are now accepting applications for the Young Theater Circuit Project 2025 Screenplay Contest, a free contest that will select up to nine texts by amateur screenwriters. The selected ones will participate in training to improve their work and, at the end, the best script will be awarded with the production of the play for a season at the Jackson Antunes Theater in Recreio dos Bandeirantes.
The winner will also receive a paid internship in theater production, financial assistance of R$1,000, and support with food and transportation for one year.
The initiative seeks to create opportunities for new talent, facilitate independent productions and encourage young screenwriters and writers to develop their skills. “Art, in general, faces constant devaluation in Brazil. And when we talk about screenwriters, this scenario becomes even more restricted. Our purpose is to create a space that not only values this profession, but also offers tools for technical and creative improvement. We want to encourage the emergence of new artists and strengthen the Brazilian cultural and theatrical scene”, says Luiz Antônio do Nascimento, artistic director and curator of the event, recognized for his work in productions such as O Cravo e a Rosa (2000), A Saga da Alma de um Poeta (2015), Mendigos - O Lado que Ninguém Quer Ver (2015) and Fala sério, Mãe (2017).
The theatrical production entered must explore the theme “Rio de Janeiro, from the point of view of the carioca”. The evaluation criteria include: originality; character development; quality of the narrative structure and plot development; quality of the dialogues; social relevance and grammar and formatting.
During the training, those selected will participate in a workshop with renowned screenwriters and lectures with guest artists. Registrations must be submitted by 6 pm on February 19th using the form https://forms.gle/AumdckeU3jPERnj49. There is no limit to the number of scripts submitted per author.
The Young Theater Circuit 2025 is organized by Lv4 Rio, sponsored by the Secretariat for Metropolitan Integration of the City of Rio de Janeiro, through the Integra Rio Project.
