At the age of twelve, she had already decided that she wanted to be a model. It didn't take long for this young girl, who came from a working-class family of Italian origin (from Pignataro Interamna) and was raised in the Catholic tradition, to start realizing her dream. In 1978, at just thirteen, she took part in a beauty contest for teenagers. Although Linda didn't win, the contest served as a catapult to the career she wanted. An agent was there on the lookout for new talent and was fascinated by the model's beauty, in which her blue-green eyes stood out.
Even so, her rise was not easy and it was only at the age of 18 that she left the modeling agency in Toronto, where she worked, to join the ranks of the powerful Elite, which led her to move to the United States, more specifically to New York. As her career was not progressing as expected, she moved to Paris in search of better luck. Evangelista, however, had to wait three years after joining the Elite to take another significant leap in her career and only then did she sign a contract with the renowned fashion magazine Vogue. From then on, everything went at a breakneck pace, allowing the Canadian model to make up for lost time. She appeared on the covers of renowned international fashion magazines and became part of the exclusive group of supermodels.
The model also became famous for constantly changing the color of her hair (short from 1988 onwards), which she did 17 times in the space of four years, leading to no one remembering that she was brown at birth.
